Islam Today

Islam is a huge religion with over a billion followers. Islamic Muslims are from many different countries with the most dense populations coming from, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India. The two branches of Islam today are Sunni and Shiite.

What is Islam?
Islam is a religion practiced all over the world. Islam teaches that other religions have, in one way or another, distorted and nullified the true belief of God. The God of Islam is known in Arabic as Allah to separate him from ilah, which could refer to any number of the gods once worshiped in Arabia.

The Prophet Muhammad
Muhammad was born in Makkah in the year 570. Followers of Islam believe that Muhammad is the last and final prophet that God sent to humanity. The Prophet Muhammad is believed to be the greatest of all the prophets according to Islamic Muslims.

What is Sufism?
Put simply Sufism is a deeper level of understanding in God. Sufism as it is known in the Muslim world is Islamic mysticism. Some confuse Sufism as a sect or branch or Islam, but rather Sufism is another dimension of Islam, a deeper level.

Islam and Christianity
Islam had it's beginnings after Christianity, the prophet Muhammad was born 570 years after Jesus' death and during his lifetime, Muhammad was in contact with Jews and Christians. The Qur'an often refers to the Holy books of Christians and Jews, including the Torah, Psalms and New Testament.

Islam differs from Christianity in many ways. Followers of Islam hold the Qur'an as the last revealed Word of God, the Qur'an is the source of every Muslim's faith and practice. Christians place their faith in the Bible (New and Old Testaments) as the Word of God.

It's wise to research all different kinds of prophetic ministries

Muslims believe in Jesus and all the prophets from the old testament, Muslims do not believe Jesus to be the Son of God. Christians however do believe that Jesus is the Son of God as written in the New Testament of the Holy Bible.

Muslims deny Jesus as the Son of God because God can not have a spouse or partner. Christians defend Jesus as the Son of God pointing out that Jesus spoke of God as His Heavenly Father. “Heavenly Father” identifying God as the “Father” of creation. More info can be found here.
